    • Hendry's Beach 2981 Cliff Dr (next to the entrance of The Boathouse restaurant) Santa Barbara, CA, 93109

Join fellow walkers at Hendry's Beach (aka Arroyo Burro Beach County Park) every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:40 to walk the beach, visit, make new friends and catch up with old friends, spot whales and dolphins, and get fresh air and exercise. We'll meet at the top of the stairs down to the beach, between The Boathouse restaurant and the lifeguard stand.

Some of us walk fast, and some of us stroll. We suggest wearing appropriate shoes to walk on the beach or up to the nearby Douglas Preserve, when the tide is high.

After the walk, we will often gather at the picnic tables near our starting point, and share a snack and conversation. Hope to see you there!

    • West Cold Springs Trailhead

    West Fork Cold Springs Trail

We will follow the  West Fork of the Cold Springs Trail up to Gibraltar Rd. with its sweeping views of Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands. Then it’s back down the gradual trail. Hiking Distance: About 4.8 miles round trip. Elevation gain: 1200 feet.  About 2-2.5 hours.  This is an out and back hike with opportunities to turn back anytime for a shorter hike. Hiking poles are recommended as there is a lot of scree on the upper portion. There is a water crossing but it is not difficult.

    Google Maps for the trailhead

DIRECTIONS: Meet at the Cold Springs trailhead on E. Mountain Drive. From either direction on Fwy 101, exit at Olive Mill Road and turn toward the mountains. Continue up Olive Mill Rd 1.0 mile, crossing East Valley Rd where name changes to Hot Springs Rd. After another 1.0 mile turn left on East Mountain Drive. Go 1.1 miles to trailhead on the right (You’ll probably see cars & hikers when you first turn onto East Mountain Drive. That is another trailhead.  Do not stop. Continue 1.1 miles.). Cold springs bridge is now open so you can also drive up and park on the west side of the trailhead.

This weekend's ride takes us a bit farther east, through Carpinteria and to Gobernador Canyon Rd, which may be new to some of you. It's a popular route with the local Echelon cycle club.

After cruising back to SB on 192 / Foothill Road, through Summerland and Montecito, we'll end the ride at the Helena Avenue Bakery in the Funk Zone https://www.helenaavenuebakery.com/

The route ups the mileage a bit to ~33 miles with ~1400 feet of climbing, but besides the climb up Gobernador, it should feel mostly flat. Riders of all experience levels on any type of bike are welcome, and we’ll stop several times to regroup. Please ensure you are confident navigating urban traffic. We also highly recommend downloading the route beforehand so you’re prepared to navigate independently if needed.

Please share photos from the event in the Cycling Photo Album afterwards.
