Gaviota Peak

Meet at Mission 8 am to drive to trailhead -

Absolutely Gorgeous

[No Hike if Raining]

2,458 foot summit in the Santa Ynez Mountains, overlooking the Pacific coast west of Santa Barbara. Reached by two trails, together forming a loop; the steeper, more enclosed Gaviota Peak Trail and the slightly longer, more scenic Trespass Trail

Difficulty: Moderate; steep in places and hot in summer, but no difficult terrain
Two one way trails to the peak, up one down the other forming a loop.  Length: 3.1 miles ( up the Gaviota Peak Trail), 3.4 miles (down the Trespass Trail) total 6.5 miles.  Elevation change: 1,950 feet.  We should be back by noon. (3-31/2 hike)

Trailhead:  We will meet at the Mission at 8am.  The trail head is about a 40 minute drive west on the 101. The Parking area is off US 101 just past the tunnel, a right exit on to Hwy 1 toward Vandenberg, then an immediate right on a no name dirt road to the trail head.  2$ parking fee per car, no dogs, wear long pants, lots of sunscreen, brink a snack and lots of water.

Hike leader:  Bo Kite

Hope to see you there!
